It is learned from reliable sources that the Dubai police have arrested Abdul Khader Puthiyangadi, a rationalist from Kasaragod, Kerala, on charges of blasphemy. A complaint was lodged with the Dubai Police against Khader’s anti-religious comments.
It is said that the arrest was on the alleged charges of trolling Islam in social media. Zealots had made allegations against Abdul Khader previously also. If the claim that the UAE Government is milder on Islamic rule, Mr Puthiyangadi may be let off or deported. Otherwise, he may be trialed as per Islamic law.
Freethinkers started a campaign called #standupwithabdulkhaderputhiyangadi so as to help and support Khader.
